Japanese Sencha Green Tea is a staple Japanese green tea that offers an alternative flavour sensation to Chinese Green Tea. Sencha is light, very refreshing and more delicate on the palate than its Chinese counterpart.
The flavour of Japanese Sencha green tea is often described as vegetal or grassy, we also call it delicious! The leaves are slightly steamed after picking to prevent oxidisation, locking in the fresh green colour and flavour. The leaves are then rolled which gives them their unmistakable long, thin shape.
Delicious as a hot drink, Japanese Sencha is also a real treat served chilled over ice. Try adding some cucumber, mint leaves and a squeeze of fresh lime juice to make this lovely refreshing drink from The Spruce Eats on a warm day.
For a Wee Tea Company blend, try mixing some of our Japanese Sencha leaves with our soothing and sweet Peppermint tea; brew as usual and enjoy the combination of flavours.
